Tourism and Antiquities Ministry takes viewers through Ancient Egypt’s forgotten past

Videos will shed light on unknown aspects of Egypt’s heritage and history through artefacts

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities will on 13 May launch a series of guided videos entitled “Forgotten Tales” on the heritage and history of Ancient Egypt.

The series will be published on the official Facebook page of the ministry’s Central Administration for Scientific Affairs, Graphics and Training.

Director of Central Administration Randa Rofael said the episodes will be presented by a variety of archaeologists and curators at various museums, on Sundays and Wednesdays. During the episodes, they will explain the history of many archaeological sites.

The videos aim to shed light and reveal unknown aspects of Egypt’s heritage and history through a number of artefacts from across Egypt’s ancient history.

In April, the ministry launched virtual tours of some archaeological sites and museums, introducing the Ancient Egyptian civilisation to people as they face lockdowns due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The virtual tours, organised in cooperation with the ministry’s scientific and archaeological institute partners, could be accessed via the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ websites and social networking platforms.

Whereas the virtual tours featured 3D photos of archaeological sites with information in Arabic and English, the video tours will be narrated by guides.
