Egypt reported 15 new coronavirus deaths on Thursday, the highest daily toll in the country since the outbreak began. The total number of people who have died after testing positive for Covid-19 now stands at 118.

The Ministry of Health has announced detecting 139 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the country’s total infections to 1,699. The ministry added that 348 cases have recovered.

In a similar context, the cabinet decided that starting 13 April, it will disburse its handout to irregular workers of EGP 500 per person until 16 April. The aid will be given to workers who registered at the Ministry of Manpower’s database before 9 April.

The aid will be distributed via post offices across the country, as well as the branches of the Agricultural Bank of Egypt.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said the process of distributing the aid should take place with no crowding or stagnation, and to apply the rule of safety to avoid further spread of the virus.

Madbouly said that individuals entitled to the aid will receive a SMS with the dates and locations of disbursement.
