Policemen loyal to ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh stormed Yemen’s Interior Ministry on Tuesday in Sanaa, igniting clashes between police and Yemeni security forces that left 15 dead and 43 wounded according to the Associated Press.

Dozens of tribesmen also loyal to the former leader reportedly joined in the clashes, exchanging fire with government security. The clashes occurred in the aftermath of a protest by Saleh loyalists outside of the ministry. The demonstrators accused the government of corruption.

The attempt to storm the ministry was the second in three days, by tribesmen who claim they were promised jobs in exchange for siding with Saleh during the uprising. President Saleh stepped down in February but many of his supporters still hold positions in the Yemeni government.

The six months following Saleh’s resignation have proved to be an unstable period for Yemen, as suicide bombers have managed to kill hundreds of military personnel.
